I just came across the following article on PopPhoto.com that talks about some of the features in Vista that are most relevant for Photographers.
Without reprinting the entire article they outline 4 key areas:
- Windows Photo Gallery
- RAW support
- Media Center
- Forward-Looking Approach
If you are a photographer and wondering about Vista, I encourage you to read the article and let me know if you have any questions. Additionally, you may want to take a look at the Microsoft PhotoBlog at http://blogs.msdn.com/pix/ and specifically their FAQ at http://blogs.msdn.com/pix/pages/FAQ.aspx which address some of the common questions.
Rodney has posted a quick summary of EnergizeIT over on the Canadian IT Pro blog. There are some really cool stats including the $3,300+ that was raised for charity.
If you didn't have a chance to get out to EnergizeIT, you can still access the slide decks from http://moss.energizeit.ca, additionally, we will be posting the recordings from the keynote and some of the sessions in the next few weeks at http://www.microsoft.com/canada/technet/energizeit/resources/.
I just came across the following post over on Gizmodo about the new version of Slingplayer with better Vista support and Windows Mobile 6 support. Although I don't have a Windows Mobile 6 device yet, the updated Vista support will be nice. With all the traveling I have been doing, I love being able to access my TV regardless of where I am. Now all we need are better Unlimited Data Plans in Canada.

I can't believe that I hadn't found this website earlier. This is a very cool way to use Windows Home Server to share your photos with your family.

Last night I had the chance to sit down with David Onley on his HomePage show to talk about EnergizeIT. There is still time to register if you want to come to the event – details after the video.
Note: They have the wrong name on their page right now and I'm working on getting that fixed.

I got a request last week for a couple of my Arnold Schwarzenegger photos to be used on the community news site NowPublic (http://www.nowpublic.com).
The photos are from the following flickr set (http://flickr.com/photos/barnaby_jeans/sets/72157600287368149/) and are featured as part of the following story: http://www.nowpublic.com/green_governer_schwarzenegger_drives_around_vancouver_in_suburbans_motorcade
If you are a geek of any sort and you are going to be in Toronto on Saturday June 16th then you should plan to check out EnergizeIT 2007.
This is the second year that my team at Microsoft has put on this event and it looks like it is going to be a great event again this year.
The focus of the event is innovation, technology, community, and learning. We have keynote speakers from Microsoft Corp including Andre Mintz and Bryon Surace, as well as the President of Microsoft Canada handing out some community awards.
Regardless of whether you are an IT Pro, Developer, Student, Hobbyist, Technology Enthusiast, or just plain Geek, there is likely to be something at EnergizeIT to keep you interested. The full agenda is available online at: http://www.energizeit.ca
